A downloadable game

Folk is a rules-light collaborative role-playing game for one Lore Keeper and 2-4 players (Lore Seekers). It is inspired by a deep love of local traditions and folklore, and by the desire to explore them in a game.

In Folk, you will immerse yourself in a world that mostly resembles our own, but where folklore, old sayings, and local legends take a more physical and distinctive form. Alongside physical prowess and mental abilities, the world of Folk shines a light on experience, lore, sixth sense, and ritual. These elements, often forgotten or set aside in our fast-paced and technological society, take center stage in Folk; they become one of the main ways to understand the world and its underlying forces, and they are among the most effective instruments for the Lore Seekers.

Lore Keeper, in these pages you will find the rules of the game and a handy guide to create adventures for your players based on your knowledge of people and places, their traditions, rituals, and stories.
Start from existing local folklore and be respectful of it.

Lore Seekers, in these pages you will find out how to create characters and play.
In each adventure, it is up to the you to determine the outcome of your story (with mechanics inspired by Brindlewood Bay) and find a solution that suits your interpretation of a multifaceted reality. Are you ready to explore folklore?

Thank you - Davide did a fantastic job with the layout. The images on the manual are all in public domain, but we also created another version with illustration by the talented Chiara Dattola! I will ask if I can share one or two previews.

I hope you will submit your folk adventure to the Folk Game Jam!

This is soooo cool!
